Hon. Justice Karemani (R) handing over to Ag. Registrar (HW Kintu Zirintusa) at Civil Division
Hon. Justice Jamson Karemani Karemera, who has been the Deputy Registrar of the Civil Division on Friday September 1, 2023 officially handed over the Civil Division Registry to Acting Registrar HW Kintu Simon Zirintusa in a ceremony witnessed by Judges; Hon. Lady Justice Esta Nambayo and Hon. Justice Boniface Wamala.
Hon. Justice Karemani was posted to the newly created Kiboga High Court Circuit as its pioneer Judge.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Hon. Lady Justice Nambayo, thanked Hon. Justice Karemani for his work at the Division and for "keeping the situation under control." She expressed confidence that he will ably manage his new role as Judge.
Hon. Lady Justice Nambayo also congratulated HW Zirintusa on his appointment as Registrar, and urged him to always consult. She noted that consultations are always welcome and that he should not hesitate to ask for help whenever he needs it.
Hon. Justice Wamala, thanked Hon. Justice Karemani for his work. He also wished HW Zirintuusa success in his new role and pledged to support him in his duties.
Hon. Justice Karemani thanked the Civil Division staff for their teamwork and dedication. He added that they had worked together to overcome the challenges of the Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS) system, which was implemented during his time as Deputy Registrar.
He also welcomed the Incoming Ag Registrar, HW Zirintusa, and urged him to keep an eye on the WhatsApp group forums to handle any challenges that may be raised by the advocates. He added that a quick response would help to calm the situation.
Hon. Justice Karemani also pointed out that the Division now faces the challenge of shortage of secretaries to type proceedings and hoped that this would be addressed soon.
The incoming Registrar, HW Zirintusa, thanked Hon. Justice Karemani for his guidance and for being approachable. He commended the ECCMIS system and urged staff to continue using it.
He pledged to improve the Civil Division and continue the work Hon. Justice Karemani had started.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Acting Assistant Registrar, Civil Division, HW Nakadama Esther Lydia Mubiru, and staff at the Division.
